Mat Man- Week 2
Social Bug
The first social skill preschoolers are learning is how to get someones attention. Instead of yelling their name across the room. The student will walk over, tap their friend's shoulder, look at their eyes, and say their name. If the child is trying to get an adults attention- students should tap on the adults hip. This is such an important life skill because during their academic career and into the job force- people need to know not the shout across the room :)
La primera habilidad social que están aprendiendo los niños en edad preescolar es cómo llamar la atención de alguien. En lugar de gritar su nombre al otro lado de la habitación. El estudiante se acercará, tocará el hombro de su amigo, lo mirará a los ojos y dirá su nombre. Si el niño está tratando de llamar la atención de un adulto, los estudiantes deben dar golpecitos en la cadera del adulto. Esta es una habilidad de vida tan importante porque durante su carrera académica y en la fuerza laboral, la gente necesita saber no el grito al otro lado de la habitación :)
Students learned a song about their feelings. Students need to know how to label how they are feeling so they know how to tell their friends and adults. It is OKAY to feel all the feelings but it is how we react that is important.
Family Involvement: Students made their own feelings book read the book before bed while making the faces to the emotions. Talk about what might make you feel this way...
Los estudiantes aprendieron una canción sobre sus sentimientos. Los estudiantes necesitan saber cómo etiquetar cómo se sienten para saber cómo decírselo a sus amigos y adultos. Está BIEN sentir todos los sentimientos, pero lo importante es cómo reaccionamos.

Super Friends
Students are learning how to be super friends to their peers in the classroom. This is hard because it is their first time in a classroom and they all have to share.
Family Involvement: At the dinner table, talk about you can be a super friend.
Example: Hugging a friend, getting them a tissue, picking up toys, etc.
Los estudiantes están aprendiendo a ser súper amigos de sus compañeros en el aula. Esto es difícil porque es su primera vez en un aula y todos tienen que compartir.
Participación familiar: en la mesa de la cena, hable de que puede ser un súper amigo.
Ejemplo: abrazar a un amigo, conseguirle un pañuelo de papel, recoger juguetes, etc.
Good Choices and Poor Choices
Students are learning Good Choices and Poor Choices in the classroom. As a class, we went through different choices to see if it was a good choice that the student was making OR a poor choice.
Los estudiantes están aprendiendo buenas elecciones y malas elecciones en el aula. Como clase, pasamos por diferentes opciones para ver si era una buena elección que el estudiante estaba tomando O una mala elección.
Mat Man
For Handwriting, students are learning about curves and Lines. Before we start writing, students need to learn how to make the curves and lines of a body. Students learned a fun song to remember all of the parts when drawing Mat Man.
Family Involvement: Practice drawing Mat Man at home.
Para la escritura a mano, los estudiantes están aprendiendo sobre curvas y líneas. Antes de comenzar a escribir, los estudiantes deben aprender a hacer las curvas y líneas de un cuerpo. Los estudiantes aprendieron una canción divertida para recordar todas las partes al dibujar Mat Man.
