Tree Project:Week 2

 Happy Birthday! 

Happy Birthday friend- We love you! 




Make a Hypothesis 

Students were to make a  hypothesis (a guess) on what would happen to the leaves in a jar full of colored water. Students were checking on it through the day and week. Ask your child what happened. 


Sorting 

AM students were to sort leaves by color.  

PM students were to sort the leaves by color, size, and details. 

Home Activity: Sort with your child. You can sort their toys together by size, color, and details. 


Tree Art 

Teachers traced the students hand and arm to make the base of the tree. Then students were to finger paint leaves on the tree. 











Roll A Leaf Game 

Students were to roll the dice to play a board game. Students then had to move where the dice told them.  During Free Choice, students LOVE playing HI-HO Cheerio. 

Home Activity: Play board games at your house. There are so many life skills they learn- taking turns, staying calm, matching. 



Handwriting 

In their handwriting book, students were to trace the shapes and tell the teacher what shape they were working on. 

Home Activity: In the car, try to find shapes with your child/children. Take about the colors you see. At home, you can have your child trace different shapes. 

Social Skill of the WEEK 

Students learned how to join in on their friends play. The student needs to go up to their friend, tap their shoulder, look at their eyes, and say their names. Then ask, "Can I play with you?" 

Students also learned that when a teacher gives them directions they need to say okay and follow what was told to them.

Gingerbread Man

  Happy Birthday  We celebrated two birthdays this week! We LOVE you both!  What did you get for Christmas?  Students were to write in their journals on what they got for Christmas.  Gingerbread Man Paper  This week, we have read different versions of the Gingerbread man, boy, girl, and family. Students had to then answer questions about the story at Center Time.  .  What did you eat first?  Students were given a gingerbread cookie. At the table, teachers watched to see what part of the cookie the students ate first. The head, arm, or leg. Then students wrote their name on a sticky note and then we graphed that information.  Why didn't the gingerbread man want to swim in the water?  Letter Cc  Students are learning to recognize, say the sound, and write the letter Cc. They are also coming up with words that start with the letter Cc.

Sign Project Week 2

I have- Who has...  Students read their card with a sign on it then students had to listen to see if they have the card. For Example, I have a stop sign, who has the yield sign?  Yo tengo- Quien tiene...
